Tub

"Nasty, ripping, gnarly, ass-whopping post-punk may now be plentiful, but this kind isn't. Following up its Charles Murray 7" (included here), this New York trio is cleanly produced and fully dynamic: super-tight instead of sloppy, heavy instead of noisy, snappy and kicking instead of plodding. With nods to the '80s Chicago sound and its stop-start grabbers (the Big Black/Rapeman/Shellac, and Tar school), Tub is nevertheless a high-flying, catchy jet roar, also akin to Naked Raygun and Man Sized Action. And one can't miss the excellent vocals; yes they shout, but always tunefully, and always with more than just attitude. For the dashing, gnashing, smashing, crashing "Crash," "Hardcore Muscle and Fitness," and the mauling "Scoping," Tub is a great smack in the face." ~ Jack Rabid, The Big Takeover
